Costs for providing a rail service which will include a train station at the Ricoh Arena have shot up by another £4m.

Originally, the opening phase of the NUCKLE scheme was set to cost £12 but building costs have, according to the CT, increased to close to £16m.

Taxpayers will meet the increased costs with Coventry City Council, Centro, Network Rail and Warwickshire County Council all splitting the extra costs.

Coventry City Councillors hope to submit the bid for Government funding on March 11 but with a general election likely to be on May 6th, it is unlikely anything will happen until the next government is in place.
