Coventry City Council have maintained their stance that there will be no fire-sale of the Ricoh Arena to the new Sky Blues board.

Speaking to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter, Coventry City Council's Deputy Leader George Duggins said: "The Ricoh Arena has been a huge asset for the city. It has put Coventry on the map by attracting a host of top class sports, bands and exhibitions and we understand why the football club would want it.

"However, we are not going to be forced in to a fire sale. If the new owners think they can come in and bargain a sweet deal they can think again.

"We have always said that we are prepared to work with people in the club. If they want to arrange a meeting to discuss a plan I ammore than happy to sit down and talk with them.

"As I have said previously, I am not aware of any request for a meeting but if the club get in touch with a viable plan then we are prepared to discuss the future of the Ricoh."
