Do Something Positive And Join The Trust

As a football supporter you never know what is around the corner; one season you're watching Champions League football, a few seasons later and its League One Football and administration. Everyone knows the story of Leeds United, probably the biggest fall from glory witnessed in the Football League in recent years, and every supporter hopes that it won't happen to their Club.

With the recent departure of our managing director, Paul Fletcher, speculation has been rife amongst City supporters that the worst is about to happen, especially since Manhattan Sports Capital Partners Limited have withdrawn their interest in taking over the Club. But currently, it is all speculation.

Murmurs have been made about supporters arranging protests and lobbying council members but until all the facts have been gathered, supporters need to be patient. The best way supporters can act at the moment is by joining the Sky Blue Trust.

The Sky Blue Trust was set up in 2003. One of the first things the Trust did was to rally the people of Coventry together and ask them to sign the largest petition presented to the City council to ensure the Arena was built. The Sky Blue Trust is part of Supporters Direct, an organisation funded by Football Stadia Improvement Fund -the partner organisation of the Football Foundation.

To date there are over 100 Football Trusts across England, Wales and Scotland and around 13 Trusts have been involved in saving their football club. Supporters Direct has worked with Trusts at York, Lincoln, Chesterfield, Exeter, Notts County and Bury to name but a few. In all these instances Supporters Trusts have to-date survived administration and Supporters Trust involvement has been a crucial feature of that survival.

No-one knows what the future of Coventry City Football Club holds, and until all the facts have been gathered no substantive opinion can be formed. What supporters can ensure is that a back-up plan is in place if the worst does happen and before that show any potential investor that Coventry has a football club worth being involved in by buying tickets to support the team at the Ricoh and roaring the team onto success.

You can join the Sky Blue Trust from as little as £2.50 via our website at www.skybluetrust.co.uk, or by calling Natalie Cox on 07746143105 for further details.

Together we can make a difference and ensure that Coventry as a city has the full-time, first class professional football club that it deserves.
