Jaguar Arena Name Stays

Jaguar Cars will continue to sponsor the new arena despite cutting 1,100 staff at it's plant in Browns Lane,Allesley. There had been calls that if the factory were to close then Jaguar should be refunded their money and the contract cancelled as a non-Coventry company as a sponsor would not have gone down well in the City.

Arena Coventry's Paul Fletcher said: "The naming sponsorship of the new Arena remains with Jaguar." He was then asked if the original £7m deal over ten years was still going ahead or was being renegotiated, he replied: "You've asked a question, and that's the answer."

The orginal sponsorship of £7m would have been the most paid for naming rights of a new stadium in the country.
