Coventry City Council representatives and City MPs will be part of a delegation which will meet with the Goverment on October 13th to ensure that plans for a train station at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry is not part of their cuts.

If the NUCKLE (Nuneaton, Coventry, Kenilworth, Leamington) phase one scheme gets the government go-ahead, there will be trains every fifteen minutes on match days and every twenty or thirty minutes at other times.

Speaking to Mercia FM, Councillor Gary Ridley said: "70,000 people a day actually travel from Nuneaton through to Coventry.

"They are currently served by one railway coach an hour, which is absolutely shocking considering when you think you can get to Birmingham once every 20 minutes or so.

"We've got the hardwear in place already, we're talking about alterations to the line and we're talking about some new stations.

"This is only a £20 million scheme as opposed to a £20 billion scheme, and we can deliver it in good time as well."
