COVENTRY CITY RESERVES 1-1 PETERBOROUGH UNITED BY KEV MONKS

Coventry City Reserves had another good work out to draw 1-1 at home to Peterborough United.

Steve Ogrizovic fielded a strong side for the third game against the Posh. Kevin Thornton was in midfield for his first game back from an ankle injury with Colin Cameron,Liam Davis and Kevin Kyle also starting.

It was the Scot fresh from his latest court appearance where he was given 120 hours Community Service who put City ahead in the 28th minute when he bravely dived in front of the keeper to stab home a Chris Birchall cross.

Peterborough, who were watched by Barry Fry and former City goalkeeping coach Andy Dibble, were level in the 32nd minute when Che Bunce called for the ball but when it arrived,it came off his right boot and looped up over the head of Luke Steele and into the net.

Steele who started his career at London Road, made one great block at the feet of a Posh forward before he was replaced at the break by Danny Ireland.

Iain Dowie joined Steve Ogrizovic in the half-time team talk and made another two changes with Andy Whing and Colin Cameron replaced for the start of the second period.

In the 64th minute of a very even contest, more changes followed with Kyle who had the best two chances and Liam Davis making way for David Burtoft and Lee Hildreth who has been rewarded with a one year professional contract.

Peterborough could have snatched a win right at the death but the solid Ben Turner got a touch and deflected a shot from the edge of the area out for a corner.

Kevin Thornton looked good in his first game back and came through 85 minutes with ease as City's playmaker and set piece taker, whilst Davis also in his first game since getting injured against Peterborough also came through unscathed and ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
