The Ricoh Arena (or City Of Coventry Stadium) was toured this week by Paul Deighton, the Chief Executive of the organising committee of the London 2012 Olympics.
Mr Deighton met Tom Clift from the Coventry & Warwickshire partnership for the 2012 games along with Dave Moorcroft and Ricoh Arena CEO's Daniel Gidney to discuss how plans were coming along.
"We're delighted that Paul made time in his very busy schedule to come and check out our wonderful facilities," said Daniel Gidney to the CT.
"He had some positive things to say and we are excited about working with him and LOCOG even more closely as we prepare to play a significant part in hosting the greatest sporting event in the world.
"Our bid team worked very hard to secure Coventry's status as a host city for football and we are determined to make the region and the entire country proud."
