Eighties pop legends The Human League rocked the Godiva Festival in the Memorial Park,Coventry tonight.

Warmed up by a few Beat tracks, Phil Oakey and his band including the gorgeous Jo and Suzanne took to the stage of the Electric Tent.

The front man who admitted he was born in Leicester to loud boos from the 2,000 plus crowd, then announcied that he lived in Coventry to huge cheers before moving to Solihull (His brother Rob still lives in Cov and is a bastion of the local Folk scene).

Oakey, had the crowd dancing and singing as they started with Open Your Heart, Mirrorman and a superb version of Love Action which younger readers may have noticed feature amongst the music on the Playstation 2 game - GTA Vice City - Liberty City Stories.

Louise,Things That Dreams Are Made Of,Heart Like A Wheel,Seconds and the political The Lebanon all were excellently performed.

The hits continued with Human,Sound Of The Crowd, (Keep Feeling) Fascination, Tell Me When before the set finished with the all time classic "Don't You Want Me.

Being Boiled and Electric Dreams provided the encore and proved why CV One were right to spend most of their budget in getting them to play in Coventry.

Anyone wishing to see the Coventry band The Enemy tonight (Saturday) is advised to arrive early in the Electric Tent. The band whose album "We'll Live And Die In These Streets" is doing well in the download charts are due on stage at 7.35pm.
