Tonight at Brandon, the Bees played host to the Belle Vue Aces who tracked in their line-up non other than Jason Crump, who on the night raced to a 5 ride 15 point maximum.
The final result was a 45-45 draw after the meeting went to a last heat decider, with the Bees holding a slender 2 point advantage. the Aces included the unbeaten Crump along with Dane Charlie Gjedde who had ably supported Crump during the evening, and the Aces pair raced to a 4-2 heat victory to share the points.
Throughout the meeting both sides took turns to take the overall lead with the points difference never more than 4 at any one stage.
whilst the Bees side scored solidly throughout, with Rory Schlein top scoring with 12 points, 2 engine failures for Billy Janniro could account for the difference on the night. Heat 3 saw both Bees riders start well and hold a 5-1 advantage only for both to suffer engine problems and the Aces take the 5-1 instead.
Whilst this was an Elite League match the Bees can look for some immediate incentive on Monday evenign when they travel to Manchester to meet the aces on their home track in a Craven Shield match. Poole away is then next up for the Bees before the Poole Pirates visit Brandon next friday for what promises to me another good close match.
