Tonights 2nd leg of the speedway knock-out cup tie between Poole Pirates and Coventry Bees, with the Bees holding a 13 point advantage from the home 1st leg, was called off at approx 16.40L this evening following heavy rain in the Poole area.
No new date has been given at this time for the re-scheduling of the match, but it could have been a lucky omen for the Bees, as Scott Nicholls had withdrawn from the meeting due to a bout of food poisoning. It wasn't clear whether a guest replacement had been found for Scott, and whilst Poole's Jason Crump was also out of the meeting through injury (a broken kneecap), Poole had booked a more than capable guest replacement in Hans Andersen.
Hopefully Scott will have recovered fully for the next round of the Speedway Grand Prix series this weekend at Prague.
