Coventry Bees Kings Of The Midlands meeting against Wolves tonight was abandoned due to heavy rain.

Rain started in Coventry around 5pm but the track at Brandon was passed fit for racing and and the meetign began with the Bees team on the back of the 4X4 truck proudly showing the supporters the Elite League trophy on 2 celebratory laps around Brandon which was warmly received. However when the racing began it was a case of after the lord mayors party which saw Fredrik Lindgren and Ty Proctor steer the visitors to a 5-1 win in the first heat after gating more sharply than the Bees.

Heats two and and three finished 3-3 with the Wolves riders once again gating the better, before a typically great ride from Chris Harris to move from second to first on the last lap gave the Bees a 4-2 win in heat four.

Ben Barker had his bike pack up as Wolves rode to a 5-1 in heat five and this was followed by the next three heats finishing 3-3.

Heat nine saw a 4-2 victory for the Bees to see the score at Coventry 25 Wolves 29.

Up until this point the Brandon management had been getting the races run as quickly as possible, but by this time the rain got a lot heavier with the lap times showing how greasy the track surface had become. The riders collectively, and sensibly asked for an interval to see if the rain would pass but sadly that was not the case and with the riders safety being paramount the meeting was abandoned at that point.

The Coventry riders then took to the greyhound track to accept the annual awards from a number of supporter clubs as an amazing season for the Coventry Bees drew to a close. Tapes up in March 2011!
