Coventry Bees were beaten 49-43 at Belle Vue.
Chris Harris top scored for the Bees with 14 points with Rory Schlein who recovered from a serious crash scored eight points. Coventry took a point from the meeting and are now a point nearer a play-off spot.
Co-boss Peter Oakes said to the Coventry Bees website: "I'm not happy with the overall performance, but sometimes you have to accept that the opposition rode better, and Belle Vue showed us how to ride tonight.
"We had far too many last places, which cost us, so all credit to Belle Vue for putting in the effort and getting their rewards.
"But the point could prove to be very vital, as it does ease the pressure a little bit - if we hadn't got that, we really would have been looking over our shoulders."
