Coventry Bees went down to a 51-44 defeat at Lakeside Hammers on Saturday night.
At Purfleet, The Bees had Max Fricke guesting and had Hans Andersen win to take the opening heat in a 4-2.
Heat Two finished in a 3-3 but the third heat saw Davey Watt and Lewis Bridger ride to condemn the Bees to a 5-1 loss.
Two 4-2's and a 5-1 to Lakeside had the Bees 23-13 down so Hansen took a tactical ride and finished second in a 5-3.
Lakeside took a 5-1 and two more 4-2's and in heat eleven, the Bees were forced into a second tactical ride. Andersen took the ride and won in a 7-2.
A 5-1 for Frick and Garrity had the Bees down by seven and with the final three heats ending in 3-3's the Bees went down to a seven points loss.
