This win duly arrived with the final result being 57-36.
Scott Nicholls maintained his good Elite league form by scoring a 5 ride 15 point maximum, and was ably backed up by the rest of the team, which included the use of rider replacement cover for the injured Olly Allen.
'Bomber' Harris scored 15 +2 from the 6 rides he took on the night, with the other notable score being Coventry reserve USA's Billy Janniro who scored 9+5 from his 7 rides on the night.
For those that are new to speedway a bonus point is paid to the rider if he follows his teammate across the line in a points scoring position, so the +5 illustrates just how strong a contribution this is to the team overall.
Next monday the Bees travel down to Reading for the return 'leg' of the Elite League match, hoping to secure at least the bonus point as they carry the 21 point margin from last night into that match.
Next up for the Bees is the visit to Brandon this friday of the Ipswich Witches, with the usual start time of 8pm - of course weather permitting.
The current league standings are shown below. The Bees rivals for 2nd spot, Poole Pirates, lost away at Peterborough last night 46-43 but the result was enough to gain them the bonus point and keep onto the Bees tails. However the 2 matches in hand for the Bees could allow them to pull away and maybe even put Swindon under pressure for the top spot.
The play-off semi-finals will have 1st Vs 4th, and 2nd Vs 3rd.
