In front of a very healthy bank holiday monday crowd the Bees set about their task in a determined fashion, despite seeing ex-Bee and GP regular Andreas Jonsson lead home Scott Nicholls in the first heat.
Thereafter though the Bees quickly seized the initiative in the meeting, running in 5 maximum 5-1 heat voctories in the next 6 races.
Although Andreas had a storming night, scoring 16 points from his 5 rides, one of which was as a double points scoring tactical ride, the rest of the Hammers only got into the groove in sparodic fashion. Where the Hammers did secure heat wins the Bees packed the scoring positions in all but 2 heats ensuring that their advantage was never lost.
The final match score was 58 points to 34 which also meant that the all important bonus point was added the the Bees league table count.
The scores for the Bees riders were:
Scott Nicholls - 11+1 from 5 rides
Rory Schlien - 6 from 4 rides
Martin Smolinski - 11+1 from 5 rides
Chris Harris - 12+2 from 6 rides
Billy Janniro - 8+5 from 5 rides
Steve Johnston - 10+3 from 5 rides.
The elite league table now reads as below, with the Bees hosting the visit of Ipswich Witches to Brandon on friday night, but the fixture to look out for is tomorrow (weds) when Poole meet leaders Swindon.
