Coventry Bees Sppedway Team have announced they have dropped adult admission prices to £12 for their Bank Holiday Monday meeting with Lakeside Hammers at Brandon.
Speaking at a packed fans' forum at Brandon on Friday, Bees owner Mick Horton, said that the riders would be making a contribution towards the admission price reduction, as the club try to restore public confidence after the disastrous defeat against Wolverhampton on Monday.
Mick Horton told the Bees website: “There was a great turn-out and I’m pleased because it proved again how passionate the fans are. They were fans who have Coventry at heart, and it was a constructive forum.
“I wanted to tell people where we stand as a club and I’m hoping it came across quite well. There were some hard questions, but it’s tough when you’re at the bottom and criticism is part and parcel of the sport.
“Last Monday was devastating, the riders were beside themselves and we’ve simply got to get a win. This Monday we want to have some fun in the afternoon, which is what we all need. The kids can sit on the bikes and we’ve got a free BBQ for everyone, and then later on that evening we want to turn Lakeside over.
“We have reduced adult admission by 30 per cent and I think that’s fantastic value for what should be a great evening’s entertainment, and our own riders are contributing towards giving something back to the fans, which is a fantastic gesture.
“We want everyone to have a great day – everyone is hurting at the moment, but I’m not one to run away from criticism. We know the performances have been poor, but Friday night meant a lot to me, to see all the people there, and all they want is for the club to get moving again. We want to do it for them."
