Coventry Bees won their first Elite League meeting of the season with a 57-33 victory over Lakeside Hammers tonight at Brandon.
The Bees had Craig Cook guesting and used rider replacement for Stuart Robson, whilst The Hammers had Todd Kurtz guesting for them and after a 3-3 in the opening heat, the Bees took a 4-2 in a re-run heat two.
it was another 4-2 in heat three when Craig Cook got past Watt but he could repeat the feat in the next heat which Peter Karlsson won and reduced the Bees lead to four points.
Heat six finished in a 3-3 before the Bees fans had something to cheer when they won the next two heats 4-2 and took 5-1's thanks to a Zengota win and one for Kasprzak, assisted by Summers in a tenth heat which saw Watt have the tactical ride.
That meant the Bees were now sixteen points up and after the interval, Summers and Nicholls got passed Karlsson, who had the second tactical ride on the first bend for a third successive 5-1.
Both sides won a heat 4-2 before a 3-3 and Nicholls and Zengota held off Karlsson for a 5-1 which gave the Bees a very welcome 57-33 victory.
