Coventry Bees Speedway team beat Lakeside Hammers 58-34 on Friday night at Brandon.
With the Bees fans waiting for their new Russian rider to arrive, Chris Harris again rode at number one, whilst former Bees rider Rory Schlein who still lives in Coventry, rode for Lakeside.
Harris and Schlein were in great form with Harris getting 14+1 points and Schlein 12 with Harris's only defeats both coming against Schlein.
The meeting opened with a re-run 3-3 and then a 5-1 for Lakeside which the Bees cancelled out in Heat three.
Lakeside won heat four 4-2, the fifth finished 3-3 before the Bees won the next four heats with maximums in every one.
Shields had a tactical ride in Heat 10 which finished 4-4. Good riding gave The Bees a 5-1 in heat 11 and by Heat 12 which finished 3-3, the Bees were 46-28 up.
Coventry won heat 13 4-2 and then a 5-1 and a 3-3 gave them a well deserved 58-34 victory.
