Tonight the Poole Pirates visited the Brandon stadium and, in front of the Sky TV cameras a close and incident packed meeting resulted in a win for the Bees by 49 points to 42.
Poole started bright;ly with a 5-1 in the 1st heat with Dane Hans Andersen replacing Poole's Jason Crump who earlier today had an operation on his broken knee-cap.
Thereafter the Bees slowly chipped away at the Poole lead, finally taking the advantage at heat 6.
Olly Allen had a very heavy hit into the air fence and was taken to hospital for a check-up, but the strength and determination of Coventry's reserves held good to cover his absence in the latter part of the meeting.
Following a brilliant round the boards pass of Andersen by Chris 'Bomber' Harris in heat 13 that took the Bees into a 10 point lead, Poole used their tactical substitute by putting in Andersen for his 2nd ride in succession aiming for double points. However the 15 metre handicap proved too much for whilst he passed Bees Billy Janniro, Steve Johnson held 2nd place to ensure that the victory was the Bees.
In the final heat of the night Andersen took his 3rd consecutive ride to lead the way, but it's the Bees who remain in 3rd place in the Elite league with 2 matches in hand to 2nd placed Pirates but only 3 points behind.
Next up is Reading away this coming Wednesday, the last visit there having been postponed by Reading due to an impending take-over.
