With Olly Allen due to return to track action for the Coventry Bees next week tonights match at Brandon against Peterborough Panthers was the last outing for Scott Nicholls.
Tracking a side that had both Rory Schlien and Chris Harris missing due to international competition, the Bees team management opted for guest Lewis Bridger to cover Rory, with rider replacement for Chris Harris.
The match started off badly for the Bees who found themselves 6 points down after heat 4, this was after heat 3 was re-run 4 times due to racing incidents that saw the exclusion of Panthers rider Korniellussen.
A drwan heat 5 was followed by a Bees maximum 5-1 from Scott and Filip Sitera in heat 6, but back came the Panthers to open up a 4 point cushion after heat 7.
Heat 10 finally saw the Bees draw level on the night at 30 points a piece with a 5-1 from Scott and Lewis Bridger, whilst the Panthers rider Hansen withdrew from the remainder of the meeting.
Heat 11 produced a 5-1 maximum for the Panthers to re-open the 4 point deficit with only 4 races to go, but the famous Bees team spirit really kicked into gear as the scores were once again level after heat 12 with a Bees heat maximum secured. In heat 13 the Panthers rider Iversen suffered an engine failure whilst in second place which helped the Bees gain a 4-2 heat win and go ahead on the overall match score on the night by 40 points to 38.
Heat 14 saw candidate for rider of the night Ricky Wells, who was having his best meeting ina Bees race jacket, make a super start and led the rest home. Lewis Bridger came home third leaving the Bees requiring a final heat 5-1 to take the bonus point on the night. This they duly did as Edward Kennett and Scott rode a superb team ride to fend off the close attentions of Iversen to record a 49 points to 41 victory.
