On the night where the Specials played at the Ricoh in a homecoming gig, the Coventry Bees returned to home shale playing host to the Lakeside Hammers.
Reserve Jordan Frampton was back in the Bees line-up which included as a guest Lewis Bridger and rider replacement for Rory Schlein.
The match began with three drawn heats before the Bees gained a 4-2 heat advantage in heat 4, but the match remained close with the scores after heat 6 standing at 19-17 to the Bees.
The next 2 heats saw the Hammers pull out a lead, firstly via a maximum 5-1 in heat 7 which was followed by a Hammers 4-2 in heat 8, leaving the Bees 4 points down at this stage.
Heat 9 saw an instant response from the Bees with Edward Kennett leading the way ahead of former Bee Lee Richardson, but heats 10 & 11 were drawn.
Heat 12 was where the Bees turned the match back into their favour with a maximum 5-1 from Ricky Wells ahead of Filip Sitera.
It was at this point in the meeting that Jordan Frampton withdrew from the rest of the match, still suffering from his recent injury.
Heat 13 ended with Adam Shields for the Hammers winning ahead of Chris Harris and Edward Kennett, but a Kennet win in heat 14 along with a vital thrid place in the heat for Sitera ensured that the Bees were 4 points up going into yet another last heat decider.
