Warwickshire cricketers Ian Bell and Tim Ambrose both played well for England in their one day international victory against New Zealand.
At Chester Le Street, Bell continued his week by scoring runs. He hit three sixes in a brief 46 from 58 balls before being run out.
With the score on 95-3, Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood came to the crease. Some fine cricket saw Collingwood make 64 from 64 deliveries whilst Pietersen went onto make a century from 104 balls.
When Collingwood was dismissed, Owais Shah smashed 49 from 25 balls before being caught by Howe in the penaultimate ball of the 50 overs innings.
That ball was a no ball, England ran one and Tim Ambrose ran a single from the ball he faced to see England finish on 307-5.
Both Bell and Ambrose took catches as New Zealand struggled to get near the total thanks to some great bowling from Paul Collingwood who recorded figures of 4-9 in eleven balls. The Kiwi's were all out for 193 in 42.5 and England won by 114 runs.
The sides meet again at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
