In their second game in two days away to the Belfast Giants, Coventry Blaze ice Hockey club went down to a 4-1 defeat on Saturday night.

Blaze coach Paul Thompson was making his 1000th game as a coach but saw his team fall behind on 22.01 through Brett Hemmingway.

A second followed on 27.59 from Craig Peacock and 2-0 was how it stayed until Colin Shields hit the third two and a half minutes into the third period.

Josh Prudden added a fourth on 57.05 but there was something for the Blaze fans to cheer when Dan Carlson scored a consolation goal on 57.05, assisted by Greg Owen.

The Blaze return to Coventry to take on Hull Stingrays at the Sky Dome on Sunday.
