The die hard Blaze faithful turn up to watch an end of season face off with little to play for.
The Blaze take to the ice, wearing green shirts for St Patricks Day, all of which were bought for £100 before the puck dropped at the start of the game. The Capitals in front of thirty travelling fans, wore their white second shirts.
Coventry should have been ahead in the third minute when Erik Hjalmarsson was clear through on goal and the Blaze fans had to wait until the seventh minute when Sunderland born defenceman Jon Weaver netted from long range.
Play was stopped on 17.40 due to the Capitals net minder needing treatment. When play did restart, Carlyle Lewis put the Blaze two up at the end of the first period.
A dreadful second period sees the Blaze concede two quick goals to Adam Stefishen on 26.41 and twenty six seconds later, Joe Dustin levels the match.
Despite calling a time out, Coach Paul Thompson fails to stop the rot and Mark Hurtubise scores a third for Edinburgh on 30.28 and five minutes later, a power play goal from Doug Christiansen means that the Capitals lead 4-2 going into the third period.
There were no more goals in the final period and although Greg Wood had a good game for the Blaze, Edinburgh, whose net minder saved 57 shots left to a standing ovation.
Blaze are at home on Saturday night to Belfast Giants. Face Off is at 7pm and then on Sunday, they travel to Newcastle Vipers.
