The Blaze had not won at the NIC since February 2009 but took a good following to see Tom Murdy in between the pipes due to Brett Jaeger, Coventry's regular net minder being ill.
Murdy was soon picking the puck out of the net as first Beauregard found the net and then Clarke scored his seventh of the season followed by a brace for McDonald to put the Panthers 4-0 up by the end of the first period.
Billy Ryan made it 5-0 early in the second period before Jeff Smith pulled one back for the Blaze, only for McDonald to complete his hat-trick.
Aaron Nell scored a second for Coventry, assisted by Zenon and Smith to make it 2-6 at the end of the second.
Into the third period and Brad Cruickshank found the net for Coventry , assisted by Fussey and Lee and with six minutes left Dan Carlson hit a fourth for Coventry but it was not enough and The Blaze went down to their fourth consecutive league defeat.
On Sunday night, it's all back to the Sky Dome where Nottingham Panthers are the visitors. Season ticket holders will have to pay for this game.
Before the game, The Blaze are celebrating mascot Scorch's fourth birthday with a party in Crosbys at 3pm. Initially aimed at U12's anyone is welcome to attend.
