Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey club were beaten 8-4 at Braehad Clan tonight.
A handful of Blaze fans made it to Glasgow to see Coventry concede four goals in the first period.
Kyle Bruce, Ryan Campbell, Cody Bostock and Brendan Cook had the Clan four goals up in the opening seventeen minutes and eighty eight seconds into the second, Jon Landry added more misery with a fifth goal.
A powerplay goal from Russ Cowley and one from Greg Owen reduced the arrears before a powerplay goal from Jordan Krestanovich made it 6-2.
Robert Farmer pulled another back within 22 seconds. Then Greg Owen hit a fourth for Coventry but Braehead came back with another powerplay goal from Brendan Cook before the second period ended.
Matt Haywood scored in the third period to give Braehead an 8-4 victory.
Coach Paul Thompson told the Blaze official website: “It was our fifth game in seven nights and is showed. We gave a tired performance.
“When you concede four goals in the first period it is always a tough ask. For three of the goals the puck was on our stick in our defensive zone and they have punished our mistakes.
“We got back into it in the second but we just gave ourselves too much to do. The players looked tired, it is a long journey too but that is not an excuse."
Coventry are in the Alladin 20/20 cup in Nottingham on Saturday night before taking on Dundee Stars in their penultimate home league game of the season.
