On the 14th November the Blaze will be asking for the generosity of the Blaze fans to help us raise funds for the 'Help for Heroes' Charity whilst the City commemorates the 70th Anniversary of the Blitz.
With only a few days left before the Blaze take on the Hull Stingrays in the Challenge Cup, plans for our Help for Heroes fund raiser are coming together!
At 3.30pm Crosby's doors will be opened for Blaze fans to start their remembrance with the Blaze, with the event commemcing with the Blaze stars signing in support and encouraging the fans to leave their message of support for past and present Servicemen and Women!
When the Blaze players leave to prepare for the 6pm face-off, the activities will continue in Crosby's till Paul Thompson's pre-game interview at 5pm. Activities include colouring competitions for the children and remembrance slide shows and dvds for the adults giving the fans a chance to commemerate the 70th Anniversary of the Blitz. To keep the children entertained at this time Scorch will be hanging around while a facepainter will be asking for donations for 'Help for Heroes' in return for a camouflage mask!
After Thommo's interview doors will open into the Arena for the Challenge Cup game against the Hull Stingrays. Just prior to face-off we'll be asking for the fans patience as we have a ceremonial puck drop by an acting Serviceman who'll be in attendance with 25 or so fellow Servicemen and Women from the The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers. The Blaze will then have The Last Post, a 2 minute silence and the National Anthem sung by a local choir (Coventry's Singing City).
At 6pm, the game begins with the players wearing specially commissioned, Help for Heroes jerseys which will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going straight to the Charity!
The Blaze hope to raise as much cash for the Charity as possible with collection buckets on the Skydome box office, on the programme stands and in Crosby's bar at the match night shop!
After the game Thommo will give his post-game interview then representatives from Help for Heroes will say a few words in Crosby's thanking the Blaze and the fans for their support!
"We're really keen to create awareness for such a fantastic cause!" said a Blaze spokesman, "It's going to be a fantastic event for all the family and give those affected by the Blitz or current wars the opportunity to remember loved ones and be involved in supporting injured Servicemen and Women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. We encourage all who can, to attend the event, join in our remembrance and give generously to this cause."
