Coventry Blaze beat Hull Stingrays 5-2 in an Elite League game tonight at the Sky Dome in Coventry.
Against the team who were bailed out by Blaze officials using money that could have been spent on getting a team together last season which would have kept the crowds coming into the Sky Dome, Coventry took a two goal first period lead.
On 12.18, Owen Fussey opened the scoring, assisted by Jonathan Weaver and Bryan Jurynec who scored a second, thanks to an assist from Matic Kranlj on 17.52.
Five minutes and twenty five seconds of the second period had passed when Blazed scored their third goal of the evening thanks to Dunstin Wood finding the net, on the powerplay, assisted by Dave Phillips and Mike McLean.
Hull pulled one back, some fifty five seconds later through Jereme Tendler, only for Greg Owen on 36.16 to go up the other end and restore the Blaze's three goal lead with a powerplay goal, assisted by Woo-Sang Park and Jonathan Weaver.
The Blaze made it 5-1 on 42.20, thanks to Shea Guthrie finding the net, assisted by Russ Cowley and Jonathan Weaver and although Dominic Osman scored a second for the visitors on 45.11, the Blaze were deserved winners.
Coventry Blaze travel to Hull tomorrow night
