Coventry Blaze hit seven goals past the Cardiff Devils in a 7-3 win in South Wales on Thursday night

With Marc Lefebvre in charge as coach following his appointment yesterday, the Blaze travelled to Cardiff Devills and got off to the best possible start when Adam Henrich scored an unassisted goal on 2.24.

On 8.33, it was two when Ross Venus scored with another unassisted goal.

The Blaze had Kelsey Wilson and Michael Henrich both in the sin bin leaving them with a three against five from which Cardiff scored 12.31, through Mac Faulkner, assisted by Andrew Lord and Tomas Kurka.

When the two minutes were up and the Blaze were back to full strength, Coventry attacked and scored a third through Michael Henrich, assisted by Gerome Guidice and James Griffin on 14.12.

The Blaze fans were in raptures and there was another goal to celebrate when Ryan Ginand netted, assisted by James Griffin, twenty three seconds later.

Blaze net minder Zacharias made a great double save to deny first Marsh and then Morrisette before a highly satisfying opening period for the Blaze ended.

There was just under ten minute of the second period played, when Coventry scored a fifth goal through Ryan Ginand, who fired home unassisted on 29.33.

The Blaze were taking a poor Cardiff side apart and it was 6-1 when Cale Tanaka scored on 38.19, assisted by Ginand and Wilson.

Tomas Kurka scored a second for Cardiff on 46.27, assisted by Tyson Marsh and Mac Faulkner and a third game from a delayed penalty goal from Tyson Marsh, assisted by Tomas Kurka on 50.01.

Cardiff opted to go with out a net minder in a late bid to try and get back in the match but that plan failed when Coventry attacked and Michael Henrich scored on 57.57, assisted by Cale Tanaka and Ryan Ginand for a 7-3 win.
