Top Scorer Adam Calder hit a hat-trick for Coventry Blaze as they beat Sheffield Steelers 5-4 tonight.
In front of a 3,460 crowd in Sheffield, Jeff Legue fired the home side in front but with 17.03 on the clock, Adam Calder became the Elite League Leading Goalscorer of goals in a season, when he scored and another in the second period.
At the start of the third period, Paul Thompson's team started with two quick goals. Sylvain Cloutier netted then in 42nd minute, Danny Stewart made it 4-1.
Sheffield pulled one back through Doug Shepherd, before Calder completed his hat-trick on 44.22 assisted by Dan Carlson and Barrie Moore.
Dan Tessier and Steve Munn both scored for Sheffield but Blaze were worthy winners and now only need to win both of their weekend matches to win the Elite League title.
On Saturday, Blaze travel to Manchester Phoenix before taking on Belfast Giants at home on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Blaze have received the dates of the Knockout Cup Final. Paul Thompson's side will travel to Basingstoke on Wednesday March 12th and face the Bisons at home on Tuesday March 18th.
