Coventry Blaze started their Elite League season with a 3-1 victory at Champions Sheffield Steelers.
Over 100 Blaze fans travelled to Sheffield for the opening League game of the new season.
The first period was goal-less but on 22.22, Greg Owen collected the ball on the half way line and with the net minder making a hash of trying to stop him, Owen scored to put the Blaze ahead.
With Blaze Coach Paul Thompson less than happy with some of the refereeing, Sheffield equalised on 40.45 after the puck had bounced around the back boards.
In the 54th minute, Blaze were back in front when the puck came from behind the net and fell for Greg Owen to smash into the net.
Two minutes later, Owen completed his hat-trick and a good night for Coventry when he hammered the puck past Reiter after getting past the defence from the face off circle.
Tomorrow night, the Blaze are at home to Nottingham Panthers. Face off is at 6pm.
