Blaze Smash Seven Past Belfast

Coventry Blaze maintained their spot as Elite League leaders with a 7-1 victory against Belfast Giants.

At the Sky Dome tonight, the Blaze got straight into Belfast and were ahead on 2.53 when Adam Calder scored a powerplay goal.

A second came courtesy of Luke Fulghum finding the net from an assist by Dan Carlson on 3.21 and the Blaze support had a third goal to cheer two minutes later, thanks to Adam Calder hitting his second, assisted by Derek Campbell and Russ Cowley.

3-0 was the score at the end of the first period and two minutes and eighteen seconds into the second, Tom Watkins scored a fourth, assisted by Greg Chambers who set up Dan Carlson for a fifth on 31.52.

The third period, saw Belfast pull one back through Kevin Phillips on 47.05, only for Coventry to go up the other end and 34 seconds later, Greg Chambers hit the sixth, assisted by Dan Carlson and Luke Fulghum.

The victory was wrapped up on 57.24 when Luke Fulghum scored unassisted.

Next Saturday, the Blaze travel to Cardiff Devils before Newcastle Vipers visit the Sky Dome on Sunday.
