Coventry Blaze started their defence of their Elite League title with a 4-2 victory tonight at Basingstoke Bisons.
Paul Thompson's side trailed at the end of the first interval by a single goal but right at the start of the second period, that goal was cancelled out by a goal from Scott Kelman.
Sylvain Deschalets added a second with Jon Weaver and Barrie Moore finding the net to give Blaze a 4-1 lead going into the third period.
Cruickshanks pulled one back for the Bisons but it was not enough to stop Blaze taking maximum points from their first away league trip of the season.
Tomorrow night, Blaze are at home to Basingstoke Bisons. Face off at the Sky Dome is at 6pm.
