Coventry Blaze kept up their press for another Elite League title with a 5-4 win at Cardiff tonight.
Paul Thompson's team took the lead in the 8th minute through Adam Calder. The Blaze's leading scorer added a second one minute and 54 seconds later through Neal Martin.
Back came The Devils who netted through Dion Darling. Only for Curtis Huppe to add a third. Tyson Teplitsky reduced the arrears but in the 18th minute, Dan Carlson made the most of a Calder pass to give Blaze a 4-2 lead at the end of the first period.
Into the second period and Sylvain Deschatelets scored for Cardiff on 26.27 in what was a physical contest.
One scuffle saw Voth got 2 for Elbow and 2 for Roughing. Petricko 2 for Roughing. Carlson 2 for Cross Checking and 2 for Roughing and Stewart 2 for roughing whilst later in the period, Huppe,Martin and Watkins all got two minute penalties.
There were no more goals in the second period and into the third,Adam Calder added a fifth. With less than a minute to go, Cardiff scored for a fourth time through Brad Voth but Blaze held on to win.
