Blaze Win In Belfast

Coventry Blaze were back to winning ways with a 5-4 victory at Belfast Giants.

In Belfast tonight, the Blaze got off to a great start on 4.52 when Russ Cowley netted assisted by Brian Lee and Danny Stewart.



On 5.37 that became 2-0 as Dan Carlson netted. Belfast pulled one back through a powerplay goal by Tim Cook on 8.52. Only for Luke Fulghum to restore the Blaze's three goal advantage when he scored on a powerplay assisted by Adam Calder and Greg Chambers on 14.42.

Bellfast had Pat Bateman back on the ice but on 17.43, Greg Chambers hit the fourth goal to delight the Coventry support.

In to the second period and Belfast, who were having more of the shots, made it 2-4 when Pierre-Luc Faubert found the net on 23.54.

On 34.20, Adam Calder sent the Blaze nap when he netted after assists from Carlson and Chambers.

The next goal in an exciting contest game in the fourth minute of the third period and it went to the home side who scored their third goal of the evening thanks to Michael Jacobsen firing home on a powerplay.

Things started to get nervy when Pat Bateman made it 4-5 on 53.37 but Blaze kept their nerve to win.

Tomorrow night, the Blaze are at home to Hull Stingrays. Face off at the Sky Dome is at 6pm.
