Blaze's Seventh Heaven At Cardiff

Coventry Blaze had their first victory over the Cardiff Devils this season in style with a 7-2 Challenge Cup victory in Wales tonight.

Tyler Michel put the home side ahead on 7.16 but the Blaze were level with a short handed goal from Luke Fulghum on 11.48.



Phil Hill's short-handed goal on 17.06 gave Cardiff a end of the first period lead but the Blaze were level on 24.04 through Dan Carlson.

Owen Fussey had Coventry in front on 31.55 and it was a lead that they did not lose again in the match.

Man Of The Match Greg Owen scored a fourth on 36.10 with a powerplay goal and Sean Selsmer got in on the act with a fifth a minute before the end of the second period.




Goal number six came through Greg Owen on the powerplay on 41.26 and the Blaze finished in seventh heaven when Jo Weaver hit the final goal of the night with a powerplay goal on 58.30.

It's all back to the Sky Dome tomorrow night and face off is at 6pm.
