COVENTRY CITY LADIES 1-2 ROCHDALE AFC LADIES BY KEV MONKS
Coventry City Ladies suffered late heartbreak when they went out of the Women's FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat to Rochdale AFC Ladies.
City had beaten Rochdale 5-2 earlier in the season but at Sphinx Drive this afternoon, the Sky Blues resplendent in their City Link sponsored kit, had a Leanne McKenna hit the bar in a goal-less opening forty five minutes.
Rochdale against the run of play, took the lead in the 65th minute when Kiara Savage bundled in from a yard out after a left wing cross had come down off the cross bar.
The reply from Paul Cudby's side was immediate and Natalie Wilcox delivered a cracking cross from the right to pick out Jade Formaston who headed home from ten yards to equalise.
Substitute Danni Saulter had a shot superbly pushed over by the Dale keeper and Formaston headed over the first of three corners in quick succession.
Saulter was unlucky not to have put City ahead in the 79th minute when her shot went wide but the match was decided with twenty seven seconds left when Chantelle Parry sent over a shot from the right which went into the far corner of the net and sent the visitors into the Fourth Round.
