THE NEW SAINTS 1-4 COVENTRY CITY LADIES
Coventry City Ladies continued their fine run of form this weekend with a 4-1 win away at The New Saints. The Sky Blues have amassed a staggering 29 goals in an impressive run which has seen them convincingly win 4 straight league games.

Last weeks hat-trick hero, Keeley Lowe, continued her hot streak with the opening goal shortly before the half hour mark. As usual Jade Formaston caused problems for the opposition and it was her driven cross that Lowe flicked into the roof of the home side's net.

In a game that was dominated by the visitors, TNS managed to frustrate the Sky Blues and didn't allow them to add to their lead until a frantic final 15 minutes. Kelly-Ann Willis found herself with the ball and her back to goal just outside the area, with no one coming to close her down Willis was able to turn and shoot, her well placed 78th minute effort doubled City's advantage.

Almost straight from the re-start a reeling TNS gave the ball back to a suddenly rampant Sky Blues. Willis turned provider, cutting in along the bye-line and squaring for Nat Brace to stab home from close range effectively putting an end to the contest.

Worse was to come for the home side. On 81 minutes, Helen Dermody picked the ball up and was able run unchallenged before unleashing what is fast becoming a trademark drive from outside the box. Reminiscent of David Thompson's finest efforts,

Dermody's screeching shot made it 4-0. TNS took solace from an injury time consolation as a long range effort breached the stingy Sky Blues defence in the 92nd minute.

The victory keeps Coventry in the chase at the top as 4 midland rivals battle it out for the lone promotion place. The Sky Blues hold a slender lead over Wolves and are hot on the heels of leaders the Leicester City Women and West Bromwich Albion who occupy the top two spots.
