Coventry City Ladies are through to the fourth round of the Birmingham County FA Women's Cup after a 3-0 victory at Coventry Copsewood.

Stuart Wilson's side needed less than three minutes to take the lead against a Copsewood side which included six former City Ladies players. The goal came from defender Helen Dermody who drove on the right side of the area a shot which the keeper fumbled into the net.

In a game prolonged by a number of injuries, Jade Formaston hit the post in the 34th minute.

One of those injuries saw Tash White forced off in the 37th minute when she was involved in a collision with own team mate Nicola Foskett who suffered a badly sprained wrist after being hit by the ball at point blank range.

Foskett survived until the break and forced Copsewood boss Mick Connelly to use both his subs in the second half.

The Sky Blues doubled their tally in the 56th minute thanks to a Keely Lowe drive and nine minutes later, Lowe popped up to score again when a Formaston free kick had been deflected onto the crossbar by a defender.

With ten minutes left, City defender Natalie Wilcox was lucky to be only cautioned following an horrific tackle which left a Copsewood player screaming in agony.

With Copsewood having used both their subs and down to ten players, City boss Stuart Wilson sportingly removed Wilcox to keep things even until the final whistle.
