A number of Coventry runners took part in the Flora London Marathon yesterday.
Both Godiva Harriers and Sphinx sent runners to the premier event which was won by Kenyan Martin Lel in a record time of two hours, five minutes and fifteen seconds.
The first Godiva Harrier home was 22 year old Fernando Del Valle, whose time was 2hrs 29.46 which gave him 56th place. The fastest Sphinx runner was Steve Goldbourne who finished in a time of 3hrs 00.14.
The first Coventry female runner home was 45 year ols Eileen Williams, 45 years old whose time of 3hrs 58.00 saw her finish in 1723rd place.
Three City supporters that we know of ran. Lloyd Powell finished in a time of 3hrs.53.00 and raised a fair bit of money for Cancer Research. Mark Coyle finished in a time of 4hrs 40.00 whilst London Supporters Club Sec Jay McDonald finished the race in 5hrs. 55.51.
