The Midland Conference Champions took on the Sonics at Old Coventrians Rugby Club in Tile Hill this afternoon in the Midland Grand Final but fell behind in the 15th minute to a converted try.
Luke Watts ran under the posts four minutes later and in the 25th minute, Dan Wilding went over on the left to put Coventry ahead.
A 70 metre run by Nick Thatcher resulted in a converted try and Coventry going in at the break 16-6 up.
Bristol, the only side to have beaten Coventry this season, came back after Alex Brown had scored a try for the Bears four minutes from time.
The vistors had two penalties and in the dying seconds, Bristol missed a kick which would have given them the win. All it did was to send the game in extra time.
After regaining possession, McGogg feined a kick and the ball got pass to Luke Watts who dived over to give Coventry a 24-20 victory and the Midland Play-Off Winners title.
There was more success for Coventry when Coventry Bears Ladies beat Leeds Akkies 30-8 to win the plate in Derby.
