Coventry Rugby Club started life in the English National Division One with a 45-20 defeat at Tynedale.
Those who travelled to Corbridge in Northumbria, must have thought that Phil Maynard's side were going to get some thing from the match as Coventry led 17-16 at half-time, thanks to tries from Southern and Kent whilst Richards kicked two conversions and a penalty.
However, Coventry were undone in the second half and only added three points through another penalty kick from Richards whilst the home side scored 29 points.
Coventry are at home to Stourbridge next Saturday. Kick Off at Butts Park Arena is at 3pm.
