Coventry Rugby Club played their first home third tier of English Rugby match in fourteen years and made sure it was a memorable occasion with a 45-32 victory over Stourbridge.
At Butts Park Arena, Phil Maynard made one change from the side that had lost the opening English National League One game at Tynedale last Saturday and saw his side 26-10 up at the break.
Luke Cozens was first to score with a fifteenth minute penalty for Stourbridge but Coventry were back in front six minutes later through a Tom Harris try which was converted by Dan Richards.
Brett Daynes scored a second try in the 24th minute and that converted by Richards and nine minutes later, repeated the feat.
Thomas Jarvis ran in a 38th minute try for Stourbridge which Cozens converted but on the stroke of half-time, Luke Beales scored to see Coventry 26-10 up at the break.
Stourbridge scored the first try of the second half through Ben Hughes but Coventry went up the other end and Sam Herrington ran in a 45th minute try.
Charles Fellowes scored Stourbridge's fourth try in the 53rd minute which Cozens converted but Alex Nash ran up the other end a minute later that Richards converted.
In the 67th minute, Heath Stevens scored Coventry's seventh try before tries from William Betts and Simon Frewin in the 75th and 77th minute gave Coventry a 45-32 victory.
