In what has turned out to be a real Coventry vs Sheffield sports week the Bees are due to open their treble title defence season with the away leg of an inter-league challenge at the home of Sheffield Tigers Owlerton stadium, a small trek down the road from the home of Sheffield Wednesday.
The challenge has been set-up to provide a good test for both teams before their respective seasons begin in earnest. With numerous changes having been forced onto the Bees team due to this years team building points reduction, a good opportunity to get rid of any winter bike gremlins awaits as well as bringing to the fore the renowned Bees team spirit of recent years.
Remaining in the side from last season Rory Schlein and Chris Harris will take the rider numbers 1 and 3 berths respectively, with new signing Simon Stead (no stranger to the Sheffield track) taking the number 5 heat leader race jacket.
The full team in 1-7 order is:
1. Rory Schlein
2. Billy Janniro
3. Chris Harris
4. Olly Allen
5. Simon Stead
6. Andreas Messing
7. Stanislaw Burza
The 2nd leg of this challenge is at Brandon this friday, but of course both matches are weather permitting.
