Coventry born Cal Crutchlow finished fourth in the Tissot Australian Grand Prix.
A race reduced to nineteeen laps saw an agreement whereby the riders could pit on lap nine or ten. However, championship leader Marc Marquez tried to pit at the end of lap eleven and was disqualified.
Jorge Lorenzo went on to claim his sixth win of the season with Dani Pedrosa second and Valentino Rossi beat Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow for the final place on the podium.
Crutchlow tweeted: "Oh well ! Big missed podium opportunity today. Tried my best & my fault didn’t see was last lap pit board but 4th is better than last races."
