Dawning of a new Era

Six former Specials reunited for the first time in 27 years on Saturday at the Isle Of Wight Bestival. Billed as the "Secret Band", or the very special guests, the guys set the place alight, and turned the clock back to 1979, as they stormed their way through a superb set based around the classic first album.

It was a dynamic performance that began with Gangsters, and ended with You're Wondering Now, and despite the inclusion of Rat Race and Two Much Too Young, Ghost Town was overlooked completely.


That aside, Coventry's finest ticked all the boxes big time tonight, the looked good and sounded even better than their 1980 version.

A very happy looking Simon Jordan was predictably present, and watched the set side stage, and sang along to every song.



Pretty much like the rest of the thousands of festivalgoers, this reunion has taken five painful years to pull off. Was it all worth it, damn right it was.
