The journeyman boxer who fought in Wolverhampton seven days ago was beaten by Gareth Crouch 46-40 on points in a light middleweight contest at York Hall in Bethnall Green.
Carey's career has seen him take Amir Khan the distance but he has not won a fight since December 2005.
