Coventry Storm Speedway Team were beaten 45-47 by Mildenall Fen Tigers in the Knock Out Cup 1st Round at Brandon tonight.
With Joe Jacobs being taken down on the second lap, the Storm went down to a 5-1 defeat in the opening heat but in a re-run heat two came back to win 4-2.
Adam Ellis shot away to give Mildenhall a 5-1 in the third heat as the Storm riders struggled with the track.
Heat four finished in a 3-3 as did a heat five which was won by Adam Ellis who set a new track record of 62.0 seconds.
Heat six was also a 3-3 but in heat seven, the visitors rode to a 4-2 to lead by eight points.
Heat's eight, nine and ten finished in a 3-3 with the tenth heat awarded after Franklin hit the second bend fence.
After the interval, Mildenhall took a 4-2 so Robert Brandford took a tactical ride and won the give the Storm a 7-2 win which saw the Storm now down by five.
Ellis crashed and was excluded from the re-running of heat thirteen which finished in a 3-2 to the storm.
Mildenhall took the penultimate heat 4-2 meaning they have won the meeting despite the Storm taking a 5-1 in the final heat to reduce the arrears to 45-47.
