Coventry Bears got their home campaign off to a great start with a 24-10 victory over Hindley.
Ross Bayston got Coventry on the board with a 37th minute try which - Ryan Gowing converted. However, a minute later, his missed a conversion when Dave O'Connor got round the full back to score from 20 yards and give the Bears a 10-0 lead at half-time.
The visitors pulled an unconverted try back five minutes into the second half, only for Cooper to score a converted try for the Bears in the 64th minute.
Hindley scored a second try which was converted but back came the Bears with Andy Cooper taking a high kick and going over for a converted try in the 75th minute and give the Bears a 24-10 win.
