In a goal crazy game at the Hull Arena, Jeff Glowa scored first at 5.38 with Adam Calder hitting his 22nd goal of the season to level the match on 6.49.
Glowa scored again before Danny Stewart netted on a 16th minute powerplay and fifty seconds later, Slyvain Deschalets made it 3-1 to the Blaze by the end of the first period.
Within two minutes, twenty of the start of the second period, Blaze were 5-2 up and Deschalets had completed his hat-trick.
Dan Carlson added a sixth only for Hull to hit back with goals from Pavel Gomenyuk and Matt Reynolds after 29.02.
Slyvain Deschalets again took centre stage with two more goals, his second on a powerplay before Lee Esders netted just before the end of the second period.
With the score at 8-5 to the Blaze, Konstantin Kalmikov further reduced the arrears. Corey LeClair skated up the other end for Coventry's ninth of the evening at 48.52.
Six minutes later, Jamie Thompson scored for Hull but Blaze ran out 9-7 winners.
Tomorrow night, Blaze are at home to Nottingham Panthers. Face Off is at 6pm.
